Descripción :
The Pantanal wetland, spread between Brazil,Bolivia and Paraguay is the largest continental wetland in the world. While in the past, traditional stakeholders managed the wetland with minimal impacts, today the Pantanal is threatened by both the intensive economic development of the region and resultant increased human population, and by global environmental changes such as climate change. The importance of this region as an ecological sanctuary has been recognized at various levels and its protection and management involves various Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs). The management of the Pantanal wetland requires closer coordination among the relevant MEAs,to its complex ecological inter-linkages.
